Situated on the top of a hill, amidst the deep green of pine trees and the silvery green of century-old cork-oaks, the Relais offers a breathtaking panorama that sweeps over the beautiful town of Portoferraio and its port before dissolving into the bright blues of the sea. The isolated location, well above the roads that run 500 metres below and its large multi-hued park full of oleanders, geraniums and lavender, all make the hotel a peaceful oasis where the tap-tapping of green woodpeckers and the song of other birds become pleasant interruptions to the silence.

Its swimming pools, one of which is a Jacuzzi, nestling among the palm trees and surrounded by green lawns spotted here and there with flowerbeds of red geraniums, are an invitation to guests to either relax on the sun beds under the shade of large umbrellas or enjoy the benefits of the sunshine, far away from any source of pollution in pure and fresh air.

Then there’s the sea of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park (an area where many of the special blue flags that denote clean waters have been awarded), the sandy beaches, the rocky shores and all the relative activities of a holiday by the sea.

The Restaurant, which follows the famous line of traditional Tuscan cuisine, offers guests menus containing a selection of original and unusual dishes prepared expertly by the young Chef, who can rightly rival some of the most famed and celebrated names in this field.

The cellar holds only wines produced in Tuscan vineyards, and the highly qualified and experienced Sommelier will advise guests so that the wine they choose will enhance the flavour and fragrance of each dish.

The well-organised bar inside the hotel is supervised by a competent, award-winning Barman, whose numerous specialties are further distinguishing marks of a holiday that is ‘special, just like you’.

The unusual Reception Hall designed by Guido Ciompi, one of the leading architects in modern hotel styling, leads the way into the Relais, formerly a large villa erected during the XIX century and around which the accommodation area has been built.
