Villa Ottoboni, which is also the name of the restaurant and hotel represent an example of architecture of the late fifteenth century. This wonderful residence with its aristocratic splendour kept its unchanged style until today, despite the minor signs of the time. Ottoboni Family became the owner in 1579, when Dionara Basalu decided to buy this wonderful residence. Dionara was the widow of `Ser Marco Antonio`, the great chancellor of the Republic of Venice and the grandmother of Pietro Ottoboni, the next pope Alexandre VIII. During the period of magnificence of this family, ladies and knights met in this wonderful residence, on the occasion of the hunting season. In this period Pietro Ottboni became pope under the name of Alexandre VIII, moreover the family obtained many investitures. Villa Ottoboni can be considered as one of the papal villas: It is not sure but probable that the pope has been here, in Pordenone. The purpose of Getur Hotel is to preserve and respect the charm and the original architectural structure of this beautiful building; so everyone has the possibility to admire this example of the past of Pordenone. |
