The history of the "Kohlhof" goes back to the year 1732. Heidelberg lent the "Busenbrunnerhof" to hereditary leaseholders. The name refers to the form of the Kohlhof hollow and the small well which is still situated near the restaurant. Big forest got cleared and in charcoal burnings charcoal was produced, therefore the name "Kohlhof".
